A Look At The All-Electric GMC Yukon
An all-new all-electric GMC Yukon EV is on the way. This announcement comes at the height of the EV wave in which many automakers are competing to release EVs. Although GMC already released the all-electric GMC Hummer EV, the automaker is not stopping there. A GMC Sierra EV is supposedly in the works and now the Yukon EV is coming to market. The Sierra EV will serve as an electric pickup truck so it makes sense to also offer an electric SUV. The GMC Yukon EV is expected to be a full-size luxury SUV. It’s also expected to make use of the same electric platform as the Sierra EV. Details are still limited, but this is big news for EV fans. We’ll take a look at the announcement and see what consumers can expect.
An All-Electric GMC Yukon EV Is On Its Way
GMC is preparing to release an all-electric GMC Yukon. The automaker has already released an all-electric Hummer so now its sights are on a full-size electric SUV. This news was recently confirmed via social media although details were sparse. We can assume that the GMC Yukon EV will ride on the same electric platform as the GMC Sierra EV however. The electric SUV will also likely utilize a similar battery pack and electric drivetrain as the Sierra EV. GMC will likely build the Yukon EV in the United States as well, which means that consumers will be able to purchase the full-size SUV at an affordable price due to EV tax rebates. Familiar trim levels like the SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali will likely be available.
The GMC Yukon EV was just announced which means we do not have all the details about the electric SUV. We are aware of the GMC Sierra EV however which GMC has been working on for some time. The automaker has also produced the GMC Hummer EV which is a clear indication that the automaker has experience with EVs. The Yukon EV will likely feature similar characteristics as the Sierra EV. This means the full-size SUV will have up to 300 miles of battery range and will offer advanced driver-assist features like adaptive cruise control and lane departure warnings.
Since the GMC Yukon EV was just announced, it will likely be some time until we get a full reveal of the full-size SUV. The Yukon EV will most likely follow the GMC Sierra EV which is set to release in late 2023. As far as pricing goes, GMC will likely price the GMC Yukon EV at an MSRP of about $60,000. Since the GMC Yukon EV will be a brand new three-row SUV this is a reasonable starting MSRP. Pricing will really depend on whether GMC wants to compete with rivals like Tesla, however. Whatever the automaker decides, all we know now is that we will have to be patient. The good news is that an all-electric GMC Yukon is on its way.
