All-New Buick Electra-X Will Enter Production
The all-new Buick Electra-X has been confirmed for production. General Motors (GM) recently revealed the all-electric crossover SUV in China. Although many speculated that it would just be a new concept, the Electra-X will serve as the first of many future Buick EVs. According to the trademarks filed by GM, the crossover SUV is only one of many. The Electra moniker is set to include a multitude of EVs, which is excellent news for Buick. While the automaker’s combustion engine lineup has done exceptionally well, Buick is now eyeing electrification. Set to offer its first EV, Buick is ready to get on board the EV. As such, we’ll look at the Buick Electra-X and see what consumers can expect.
Buick Electra-X Confirmed for Production
General Motors (GM) recently unveiled the all-new Buick Electra-X. The automaker confirmed that the electric crossover SUV would be headed for production. Spy shots were recently taken of the SUV wrapped in camouflage, indicating that the prototype version is already being tested. As Buick’s first electric vehicle, the Electra-X will represent a family of EVs. This was confirmed by recent GM filings, which indicated the Electra name would be represented by vehicles E1 through E9. It’s believed that the production version of the Buick Electra-X will carry the Electra E4 name.
Looking at the production-ready Buick Electra-X shares similarities with the recently released concept work. This means the crossover SUV will keep its elegant proportions and broad fascia layout. The front of the SUV will feature a trapezoidal grille with slim and sharp LED headlights running through the fascia’s upper corners. For the sides, the crossover SUV gets body-mounted mirrors with flush pop-up door handles. At the rear, the Electra-X features slim taillights. There are also six-spoke wheels and black roof rails.
Inside the Buick Electra-X, the crossover SUV gets a sizeable curved panel that serves as the dashboard. This panel has a freeform layout that combines the driver instrument cluster with the infotainment screen. The Buick Electra-X will ride on the GM BEV3 platform. This platform will serve as the foundation for future Buick EVs. The Electra-X will likely sit below the Electra E5 in the EV lineup. It will also feature Buick’s new Tri-Shield logo. The Buick Electra-X had its official debut at the 2022 Guangzhou Motor Show, but additional details should be coming shortly.
