General Motors blessed us with our first look at the 2024 GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate, and it’s got the pickup segment at a standstill. The heavy-duty pickup revealed a new top-level trim, a few powertrains, and technology refinements. Of course, only passionate Sierra fanatics can identify the augmentations. Still, anyone new to the automaker will find it impossible to settle for any other pickup once they get a hold of these new features.
Now it’s easy to pass by a slew of pickups on the interstate, but it’s hard for anyone to take their eyes off the Chevy Silverado HD. However, much like the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500, the new Sierra features a new exterior and luscious interior. So, we’ve all lost interest in the idea of the Chevrolet Silverado HD, and the 24’ GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate is now the pickup that has our hearts.
The Beef is Inside the Sierra HD Denali Ultimate’s Engine
It doesn’t get meatier than the Denali Ultimate’s 6.6-liter Duramax diesel with 975 lb-ft of torque and 470 horsepower. The Duramax beastly power comes from a few refinements to the L5P engine, such as the newly potent powerful turbocharger, new cylinder heads for enhanced cooling, new pistons, new fuel injectors, a new engine controller, and a higher injection pressure.
Get behind the wheel, and there’s more power in those hands than ever imaginable. Since the added gears enhance the pickup’s drivability, the 2500 HD model tows up to 22,500 lbs, whereas the 3500 HD hauls a mammoth 36,000 lbs like it’s tugging a gazelle.
The Interior that Puts Star Trek to Shame
Inside the Sierra Denali Ultimate is an interior filled with full-grain leather for the trim-exclusive Alpine Umber color. Throughout the cabin is a dark Paldao wood and microsuede covers the visors, headliners, and pieces of the A and B pillars.
The top-of-the-line trim for the Denali Ultimate features front seats that adjust in 16 different ways. Additionally, the pickup supports the Bose system with 12 speakers. Further, there’s a power sunroof, 15-inch head-up screen, and a rear camera mirror.
One feature we’re looking forward to for the Denali Ultimate is the new transparent trailer camera and the Gross Combined Weight Rating Alert System. The Gross Combined Weight Rating Alert System notifies the pickup driver that they have exceeded the vehicle’s gross combined weight rating.
Exterior Refinements
Most of the Denali Ultimate’s exterior refinements are located at the grille, fascia, and front bumper. As a result, each trim of the spirited pickup receives a distinctive look. Most importantly, the functional handrail scoop for the Duramax diesel designs inherits a unique crossbar for the Denali Ultimate trims.
Although most of the pickups’ exterior enhancements exist at the front, the back boasts better taillights. So get close, ignite the pickup, or employ the turn signals, and welcome to the light show. Moreover, the Denali Ultimate, the SLE, and AT4 trims feature new wheel options, such as the 22-inch wheels.
The Dark Vader Chrome trim is unlike any other Denali Ultimate model. The Dark Vader sports 20-inch wheels with pieces that are machined and high-glossed. Additionally, the Sierra comes with MultiPro Tailgate opening in six different ways. There are so many ways enthusiasts can enjoy the 2024 GMC Sierra HD Denali Ultimate, but for now, we must play the waiting game and awaits its release during the first quarter of 2023.
