Does the 2023 GMC Yukon Offer Impressive Towing Capacity?

The 2023 GMC Yukon is a highly capable SUV with a lot to offer. Both spacious and comfortable, the Yukon provides owners with a lot of versatility. Owners can also opt for a fair bit of luxury, especially with the Denali Ultimate trim. An aspect of the Yukon’s versatility is its towing ability. The family-sized SUV offers impressive capacity thanks to its range of powerful engines. GMC has been busy updating the family-sized SUV with new technology, but we’ll take the time to look at the 2023 GMC Yukon and see how impressive its towing ability is.
How Much Can the 2023 GMC Yukon Tow?
The 2023 GMC Yukon can be equipped with several different engine choices. One of these options is a naturally aspirated 5.3L V8. The family-sized SUV can also be equipped with a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 and a 3.0L turbodiesel. The 5.3L offers 355 horsepower and 383lb-ft of torque while the 6.2L offers 420 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. Last is the 3.0L turbodiesel which provides 277 horsepower and 460lb-ft of torque. Each of these engines is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Owners can also select either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
While the 2023 Yukon offers impressive towing capacity, it can be enhanced with a Max Trailering Package. This optional package increases the Yukon’s towing capacity by 500 pounds. This increase is both with rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. The package also offers helpful features like a ProGrade Trailering system, an extra capacity cooling system, and a 2-speed active transfer case. Owners will note how helpful the ProGrade system is with hitch guidance and a hitch view. The system also features a trailer brake controller and trailer side blind zone alerts.
The 2023 GMC Yukon has a max towing capacity of 8,400 pounds. This is when equipped with the Max Trailering Package. It’s also when equipped with the standard-length body style. Owners can opt for the Yukon XL which extends the body length by 15 inches. This will decrease overall towing capacity by 100-200 pounds, however. The 2023 Yukon gets the max towing capacity with the 5.3L V8 engine and a rear-wheel drive setup. The lowest towing capacity offered is still an impressive 7,500 pounds. This is with the extended body style as well 6.2L V8 engine and four-wheel drive. At a starting MSRP of $57,400 (plus destination fee), the 2023 GMC Yukon proves to be a highly capable SUV.
