General Motors and Netflix are partnering together to increase public interest in electric vehicles. Both companies will cooperate to increase the presence of EVs on screen. This includes advertisements and new movies and shows. The two companies refer to their partnership as a strategic alliance with the goal being to get more consumers comfortable with the idea of having EVs on the road. Having produced the GMC Hummer EV, GM is confident in its ability to deliver highly capable and versatile EVs to the public. The only problem is getting consumers comfortable with transitioning. New EVs like the GMC Yukon EV will hopefully aid in this process as it electrifies current vehicles. As automakers move toward EVs, more companies like Netflix will attempt to convince consumers to make the switch. For now, we’ll take a look at GM and Netflix’s partnership as well as their planned Super Bowl ad.

GM Partners With Netflix To Increase EV Interest

General Motors (GM) and Netflix will partner to increase public interest in electric vehicles. Both companies have formed a strategic alliance to feature at least one EV in each movie or series the streaming giant produces. This will be a large boost to the EV movement. Many automakers have already started the transition toward electric vehicles but some of the general public has shown hesitancy. GM’s Hummer EV SUV has gained a lot of attention and now the automaker is starting work on an all-new all-electric GMC Yukon EV. With the new strategic alliance, GM and Netflix will make EVs more acceptable in the public sphere.

To initiate their alliance, GM and Netflix will start with the Super Bowl. Both companies have hired actor Will Ferrell to star in their Super Bowl ad. In the commercial, Ferrell will interact with EVs while navigating popular Netflix shows like Squid Game and Bridgerton. The goal is to increase public interest in EVs and make them more acceptable. Going forward, GM and Netflix will produce more content with electric vehicles featured in them to convince consumers to make the switch to a more sustainable alternative.

GM and Netflix have commented that their relationship is not simply product placement but rather a sustainable initiative. GM is not paying Netflix to highlight its EVs. Instead, the two companies are working together to ensure consumers accept the future of EVs. By convincing the general public of the benefit of EVs everyone will benefit. Going forward, those watching Netflix can expect to see EVs in various movies and shows. The streaming giant has stated that it will not dictate how the vehicles are used so creators will have the final decision. So far, the current shows that have seen EVs included are Love is Blind, Queer Eye, and Unstable. For now, we’ll continue to monitor GM and Netflix’s partnership but so far this is great news for the future of EVs.
