We requested a medium, but General Motors is preparing to unleash a large. GM recently affirmed that the Acadia would evolve into a new segment. Even though the American automaker revealed its expansion plans in August 2020, it appears ready to finalize and assemble. With the introduction of the third-generation Acadia, the SUV will mature from the mid-size segment to a full-size crossover. When the GMC Acadia premiered in 2007, it was a three-row SUV. As time passed, the mid-size SUV altered its second generation and reduced in size considerably, ultimately competing in a new segment.

Not until recently, General Motors publicized that the third-generation Acadia would evolve into a larger variation of its predecessor. During a presentation at the automotive General’s Investor Day event, GM’s President, Mark Reuss, expressed plans for forthcoming products.

“Alongside the Traverse, we’ll move the GMC Acadia to a little bit different size standpoint. This comes in a little bigger than the old Acadia, so it’s a big transformation for GMC and its part of the market. “Very handsome, very much GMC truck premium. It’s really just a Professional Grade SUV in this three-row category for us.”

 – Mark Reuss, General Motors President

The third-generation Acadia will launch sometime in 2024 and as a 2024 or 2025 model. Aside from the resize, the prospective full-size SUV will unveil a reimagined exterior and interior. The GMC Acadia may traverse on the revised GM C1 or C1-2 platform. Furthermore, onboard tech features for the midsize SUV include GM’s Super Cruise and the driver assistance feature.

Many assumptions encompass what enthusiasts will find underneath their next-generation GMC Acadia. For example, the naturally aspirated, 3.6-L V6 LGX ICE (internal combustion engine) appears a captivating contender, but so does the turbocharged 2.0-L inline-4 LSY ICE, and of course, so does the 2.7-L inline-4 L3B gas engine. Production for the third-generation GMC Acadia will begin beside the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave at General Motors Lansing Delta Township plant in Lansing, Michigan.
