What’s Next for the 2023 GMC Family

For 2023, GMC will offer enthusiasts an array of all-new generations and a few mid-cycle refreshes for the bulk of its models. So here’s a chronological breakdown of what to expect from the automotive General for the US and Canada. 

The First Half of 2023 

The third generation of the GMC Canyon will begin production on January 25th (2023) at the GM Wentzville plant in Missouri. 

Then there’s the 2023 GMC Sierra AT4X and the AT4X AEV Edition. Reservations for the AEV Edition opened at the end of 2022, and the first round of pickup should reach enthusiasts any minute now. Then there’s the regular but never basic Sierra AT4X set to inherit the AT4X AEV Edition’s standard features. Furthermore, enthusiasts can configure the Sierra AT4X AEV Edition through the GMC website. 

Next up is the GMC Hummer EV pickup, which premiered in 2022. The Hummer SUV will launch soon, and assemblage will occur at the GM Factory Zero Plant, which used to be the GM Detroit-Hamtramck plant. 

Spring 2023 

At the time of writing, the Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 is currently in production but what’s unsure is whether it’s a 2022 or 2023 model. Once Edition 1 orders come to completion, it’s time to assemble the EV3X trim, also coming to life at the GM Factory Zero plant. After the Hummer EV pickup, the EV2X and EV3X models will begin production sometime in Spring (2023), while the Hummer EV2 will impact Spring 2024. 

The GMC Sierra HD will attain a mid-cycle refresh next month (February 2023). The assemblage of the iconic pickup will occur at the GM Flint Assembly plant in Michigan. The 2024 GMC Sierra HD will premiere a reimagined exterior, a refined cockpit, powertrain enhancements, and much more. 

Once productions come to completion for the 2023 GMC Canyon Elevation, AT4, and Denali trim, the AT4X will premiere in spring 2023. There’s some rumbling of a Canyon AT4X AEV, but the automotive General has yet to confirm a production date. 

By the Closing of 2023 

Before 2023 ends, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL will receive a mid-cycle refresh. The reimagined 2024 Yukon has a production date set for November 2023. 

Last but never least, the GMC Acadia will debut in late 2023, with production scheduled for early 2024. The 2024 GMC Acadia will continue traversing on GM’s C1 platform, with assemblage transitioning to the Lansing Delta Township plant in Michigan.
